Another option in ABQ

Just FYI.....I am planning a homebirth....a waterbirth (Yippee!) with Hilary Schlinger. She is the only nurse-midwife here in Albuquerque (that I am aware of) who is doing homebirths. With 20+ years of experience, she will be great. Dusty Marie , a licensed midwife, will also be assisting at the birth. She is great, too. Between the two midwives, myself and Jake we have caught hundreds if not thousands of babies. I can't wait to see how this birth differs from my last two births (#1-hospital vacuum extraction (horrible) #2-birthing center waterbirth (lovely)).
I am 30 weeks pregnant. If I stick with my track record, only another 6-8 weeks to go!

Albuquerque Water Birth

I am a nurse-midwife here in Albuquerque. I have been here almost a year and a half and have been sorely disappointed in the water birth opportunities for women here! I would love to hear personal stories, midwives who are doing water births and any other helpful tidbits. I work in a very structured setting and not many of the midwives know of where to tell clients to go to search out a water birth. Such a tragedy, in my opinion, that there are not birthing centers with CNM's more here. And so sad that the major hospitals do not offer water birth. Get with the twenty-first century!
